Intraoperative complications are very rare. More severe arterial bleeding at the suture line can be controlled with direct oversewing. Extremely rarely, technical problems with the stapler are reported: insufficient cutting function or only partial staple line.

Postoperative complications
Complication rates between 5% and 10% are reported in the literature. These include: bleeding, stenosis, fissure, fistula, abscess, anal thrombosis, urinary retention, persistent pain issues.
In rare cases, there have been reports of continence disorders as well as retroperitoneal sepsis. Life-threatening complications occur at a rate of 0.1%, not more frequently than with conventional hemorrhoidectomy.
