Complications - Appendectomy, laparoscopic

  1. Intraoperative Complications

    • Injuries to other intestinal sections
with a clear focus, no further exploration.

      avoid "tearing" at the mesentery.
    • Injuries from trocar positioning
      trocar insertion under vision, mini-laparotomy.
    • Thermal damage to the intestine or skin
      bipolar coagulation is safer.

    • Intra-abdominal Abscess
Need for revision or percutaneous drainage.
    • Postoperative Ileus
      paralytic: conservative ileus therapy.
      mechanical (adhesion): revision.
    • Stump Insufficiency
Revision and suturing, if not possible, tangential cecal pole resection or ileocecal resection, depending on findings.
    • Bleeding from the Appendicular Artery
      Revision surgery.
    • Subcutaneous Emphysema
      Usually resolves on its own.
    • Post-laparoscopic Shoulder Pain Syndrome
