Perioperative management - Kocher maneuver

  1. Indications

The Kocher maneuver serves to mobilize the duodenum. The structures on the back of the duodenum are displayed and mobilized.
The mobilization of the duodenum according to Kocher is necessary:

    • To capture the duodenal, pancreatic, and retroduodenal lymph node groups.
    • For easier closure of the duodenal stump or a duodenotomy.
    • To facilitate the anastomosis technique in interposition.
    • Is a prerequisite for a tension-free gastric interposition.

This process is a surgical step in upper abdominal operations:

    • Duodenotomy as standard access to intraduodenal structures
