  1. The Duodenum

The duodenum begins directly behind the pylorus with the superior part, to which the descending part connects. At the duodenal knee, the horizontal part follows. The ascending part opens at the duodenojejunal flexure (Treitz's ligament) into the jejunum. The blood supply of the duodenum occurs via the gastroduodenal artery, the pancreaticoduodenal artery and the supraduodenal artery, which originate from the celiac trunk and the superior mesenteric artery.
