The continuing education portal FOMF and the e-learning platform WEBOP for surgeons announce their strategic collaboration. The goal of the cooperation is to expand an integrated, digital continuing education experience for clinically active physicians in the German-speaking region. As part of the partnership, the scientifically based surgical learning content from WEBOP will be integrated into the FOMF learning portal. This strategically expands FOMF's portfolio to include surgical skills and surgical training, strengthening its practical, digital continuing education offerings. Additionally, CME-accredited surgical training courses are planned to be made available via FOMF in the future.
Joint Vision: Digital, Practical Continuing Education
The cooperation combines the complementary strengths of both partners: FOMF is established as a comprehensive continuing education portal with a reach of over 130,000 physicians in the DACH region. WEBOP is a video-based surgical teaching platform that intuitively conveys surgical techniques through didactically and structured teaching contributions. Together, both organizations pursue the goal of sustainably strengthening the quality of medical continuing education and further scaling digital learning formats. "We are particularly pleased to complete our offering for hospitals and clinics throughout the DACH region with the scientifically, evidence-based surgical content from WEBOP, thereby providing continuing education content for almost all clinical specialties," explains Dr. Wafa Enayati, Managing Director and Founder of FOMF, the collaboration.
Added Value for Physicians and Clinics
Through the integration, users gain direct access to over 200 scientifically based video sequences from various surgical specialties. The content is characterized by a visually prepared, step-by-step presentation of surgical procedures and supports both preparation for clinical interventions and continuous professional development. Access is seamlessly integrated within the FOMF learning portal and included as part of the FOMF group membership.
The offering is primarily intended for clinical active physicians practicing in the DACH region, including board-certified specialists, physicians in postgraduate training, and medical students in their final clinical year, and is used particularly in the hospital setting. "By providing our illustrative teaching videos in the free medical intern companion of FOMF, we make a sustainable contribution to improving the quality of training in the practical year for our junior doctors," say Prof. Dr. Markus Heiss and Dr. Pape-Köhler, founding team of WEBOP.
Scientifically Based Surgical Teaching
WEBOP is an established platform for surgical e-learning. The founders, Prof. Dr. Markus Heiss and Dr. Carolina Pape-Köhler, have scientifically evaluated the concept and supported it with evidence. Studies show that multimedia, internet-based surgical training significantly improves surgical performance and is a meaningful addition to traditional training formats.
Continuous Expansion of the Programm
At the start, the integration includes educational content from general and visceral surgery, vascular surgery, thoracic surgery, gynecology, robotic surgery, and hand surgery. Further specialties are already in development. At the same time, the technical integration is being continuously enhanced to ensure a seamless user experience and the complete integration of all WEBOP learning elements.
Quality and CME Perspective
Both partners place great emphasis on evidence-based, independent content created by recognized experts. Quality is ensured through editorial review processes and continuous updates. Additionally, the provision of CME-accredited surgical training through FOMF is planned. About FOMF
