Complications - PTA of the right common iliac artery and external iliac artery in PAOD stage IIb

  1. Intraoperative Complications

    Dissection

    → Bridging with stent or open correction (e.g., bypass)

    Embolization

    → if relevant, aspiration embolectomy or open embolectomy using balloon catheter

    Vessel occlusion after dilatation

    → open correction (usually bypass required)

  2. Postoperative Complications

    Postoperative bleeding

    → Compression, in case of larger findings open revision and vessel suture

    Pseudoaneurysm

    → Percutaneous occlusion with fibrin, in case of failure open revision

    AV fistula

    → Embolization in case of long fistula channel, otherwise open revision

    Occlusion of the reconstruction

    → Change of procedure, if necessary bypass
