Contraindications
- There are no contraindications except in severely ill moribund patients. In the case of acute local inflammation (e.g., abscess), the procedure should be postponed until the infection is resolved.

Diagnostics
- Proctological examination: inspection, palpation, proctoscopy, rectoscopy
- If there is suspicion of malignant transformation and an infiltrative finding, a biopsy should be primarily initiated, followed by necessary diagnostics.
